Not rock

(anything not rock related)

Vikki does "Bushwacker blues" F5-- "hard, fingery, but doable"

"Climbing is never good when hung over" -iv said it enough times to think about packing in the drink, for a day.   After a monster session at mine the night before, Steve, Vikki, Mya and I turned out at the graveyard.  Vikki's first accent of "Bushwacker" was class, and easier on the eye than her bro abseiling down.  First times are always difficulty on this vague rock that shows very little of the route or the holds. She was in no mood for that though and cleared it no problem.

At this point the batteries in the camera died, as if they had seen enough of the graveyard and bloody bushwacker.  How wrong they were.    We moved on to have a look at the routes we didn't consider a few months ago.  Was it last nights beer, the food or possibly even new found confidence after having his pants whipped down at the party?  Steve wanted a crack at leading "Roasting the Ox" F6b.  Vikki belayed with me closely clipped to her like a sandbag as he went for it.  Given that this was the first sport climb outdoors, the run outs were long and the climbing was hard.  Cautious not to put him off we kept the motivating loud and the worrying low, even  Mya got involved--handing us the helmet as pebbles fell.  He topped out and secured a belay point for me to second.  F6b is really at my limit for now and I was really pleased to get it in one, some good old male bonding went on as I slapped the man on the top in appreciation.  The walk off into the horse field and down the track was akin to wembley stairs, the task complete.  However, no queen or trophy for us--just 2 princesses and a well packed bag!

A celebration of mediocrity? No,  just lovin it!
